Got a new job
March 21st, 2007
Well, the title says it all
I've spent the last three months looking for a real job and now I've found it: I now work as a software engineer for Converge S.p.A., an IT business localized in Rome, Italy, which operates at national level. My work will involve the planning, refactoring and coding of a multiplatform (currently MacOS X and Win32, maybe Linux too later) business management platform; I'll officially start to be employed on April, so these are the last days I work as a freelance developer... Meaning these are the last days to finish some of my (paid) works that I still have open. This is my first full-time job, and my life will need to change somewhat to accommodate the new rhythm... I somewhat fear it, but I'm also excited and I can't wait to begin.

About EC++, I've fixed a couple of site bugs, but nothing new on the software side of things. I still have faith on the W3 project, and I hope once I am stable with the new job, and closed the other part-time ones, I'll find the time to dedicate myself a bit to it. I have many ideas in my head...

Hey,

congrats and good luck with your new job then. I\'d like to see some progress on W3 sometime. A few weeks ago I found one of the very first alphas of it on an old hd. You know that version with the assembly-style scripts

However, since programming is my job (we sell a content management system at work) I lost a lot of interest in doing coding in my spare time. Anyway, I hope it comes back one day.

Hey, good luck also from me, we just were talking about you in #allegro (how great an OSX developer we had back then..)

Thanks to both of you, and nice to hear and see you both lurk here every now and then
Murray: that's my feeling right now as well, I don't have much time for coding my own pet projects as it was once. But be sure that if I ever restart working on it again, it'll be nothing like that old alpha, but 3d from the ground up (hey, we're in the modern age).
Elias: I continue to receive the AD messages, and sometimes I even read them (), and I'm considering a comeback... I own a MacBook Pro and the machine screams! Now I need a) to become stable enough with my new job so I can restart my pet projects, and b) some motivation to code for Allegro again. This last one would be satisfied if Allegro is set to use modern age techniques (read: API restructuring towards OpenGL/Direct3D interfaces) instead of blindly keeping backwards compatibility (which is not that bad, but hey, you have to make compromises). I haven't followed Allegro much lately (in the last year), how's its health?

Hey man, today I remembered my old QB programming days when I was about 15 yrs old I googled all the old sites like neozones, then remembered that fun little game, wetspot! I found this site, and to my delight you're working on wetspot 3! This just made my day :D

Just want to second what the last guy said :-) DirectQB was the thing that allowed me and my friends to get started writing games back at school (also around the age of 15!) Now 24, doing a computing doctorate and planning to go into games development for real when I'm done - just want to say thanks for back then. Glad things are going well for you :-)
